About The Role

This is a fixed-term contract for the duration of the 18-month apprenticeship. Upon completion you will achieve a Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification.

Level 3 Apprenticeship Rates

  • Under 18 years - £16,012 per annum
  • 18-20 years - £21,510 per annum
  • 21+ years - £24,520 per annum

Leeds City College are seeking an Apprentice Teaching Assistant to join our Public Services department, based at our Quarry Hill campus.

You will play a vital role in supporting learners to achieve their full potential by delivering high-quality classroom support, teaching whole classes within agreed frameworks, and providing pastoral care. Working closely with teachers and colleagues, you will help create a safe, inclusive and engaging learning environment that promotes academic progress, wellbeing, confidence and positive behaviour for every student.

What You Will Do

  • Support individuals and small groups and monitor learner progress.
  • Contribute to assessments and Individual Learning Plans, maintaining accurate records, preparing learning resources, and providing feedback to teaching staff.
  • Promote restorative practice and manage behaviour positively.
  • Support educational visits and complete ALS documentation.
  • Ensure learners receive the guidance needed to succeed both academically and personally.

About You

  • L2 Literacy and Numeracy skills to Level 2/GCSE grade A-C in English and Mathematics.
  • You are a compassionate, organised, and proactive professional with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • You are committed to safeguarding, restorative practice and inclusive education, with the ability to build positive relationships and adapt support to meet individual learner needs.
  • You demonstrate integrity, professionalism and a passion for helping young people develop confidence, resilience and independence.
