About The Role
The position is full time and fixed term for the length of the Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning Apprenticeship (18 months).
Level 2 Apprenticeship Rates
- Under 18 years - £15,742 per annum
- 18-20 years - £21,240 per annum
- 21+ years - £24,520 per annum
Keighley College are seeking an Apprentice Technical Support Worker to join our Study Programmes department.
The Apprentice Technical Support Worker provides practical and technical support across trade workshop environments, helping to ensure that teaching and learning activities are delivered safely, efficiently, and effectively. Working under the guidance of experienced technicians and curriculum staff, the apprentice will develop the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required to support vocational training in trade areas such as construction, engineering, plumbing, electrical installation, joinery, motor vehicle, or other practical disciplines
What You Will Do
- Prepare workshops, classrooms, and practical learning environments for teaching sessions.
- Set up, issue, and safely store tools, equipment, machinery, and materials.
- Assist teaching staff during practical lessons by providing technical support where appropriate.
- Carry out routine maintenance, cleaning, inspection, and basic repairs of tools and equipment under supervision.
- Monitor and replenish consumable materials and maintain accurate stock records.
- Receive, check, and safely store deliveries of equipment and materials.
- Ensure workshops remain clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Follow safe working practices, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and safe handling procedures.
- Report faults, hazards, accidents, or equipment defects promptly.
- Support the maintenance of inventories, asset registers, and equipment servicing records.

A motivated, reliable, and enthusiastic individual who is keen to develop a career in technical support within vocational trade areas. You will enjoy practical work, be eager to learn new skills, and take pride in supporting high-quality learning environments. You will be able to work effectively as part of a team while also using your initiative to complete tasks independently. A positive attitude, strong organisational skills, and a commitment to health and safety are essential.
