Job Description

The role of a forklift truck service engineer is critical, requiring independent thinking to diagnose and resolve issues. This position is rely upon by customers to restore their operations efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service and repair forklifts by installing, repairing, and performing planned maintenance per Crown specifications.
  • Undertake an appropriate engineering apprenticeship, completing set modules and attending college as required.
  • Work under supervision to:
    • Observe and learn from colleagues.
    • Understand workshop procedures.
    • Attend manufacturer’s training and relevant courses.
  • Learn Crown administrative procedures, record-keeping (e.g., worksheets, timesheets) and tool/spares management.
  • Ensure customer fleet security and cleanliness during workshop stays.
  • Follow all Crown policies, legislative requirements, and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Work closely with teams to ensure compliance with industry and Crown work standards.
  • Foster relationships with customers, colleagues, and managers.
  • Perform additional reasonable duties as assigned.

Person Specification

Essential Skills

  • Willingness to learn and follow instructions.
  • A keen interest in engineering.
  • Friendly and capable of building customer and colleague relationships.
  • Minimum A-C grades or equivalent* in Maths and English.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word/Excel or equivalent.
  • Ability to work methodically and to deadlines.
  • Highly motivated, self-reliant, and capable of prioritising workload.
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal/communication skills.
  • Practical aptitude for science or engineering, with innovative, hands-on thinking.
