Foundation apprenticeships are introductory courses that help young people get started in an industry. You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply. Anyone between 16 and 21 can start a foundation apprenticeship. If you're between 22 and 24, you can start if you have an EHC plan, are in care or have been in care, or are in prison or have been in prison.
This role offers hands-on experience supporting individuals to live independently while gaining recognised qualifications and practical skills in care. You will receive ongoing training and support.
Requirements
- You do not need to have any specific qualifications or experience to apply for a foundation apprenticeship.
- Applicants will be required to undergo an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check before starting the role.
- Apprentices must be reliable, compassionate, and comfortable supporting individuals in their own homes and in the community.
- Willing and able to travel between different locations.
- Flexibility to work across different days, including evenings or weekends if required.

Responsibilities
- Support individuals in their own homes or in the community to live as independently as possible.
- Assist with daily living tasks such as preparing meals.
- Support with personal care where required.
- Help with shopping and attending appointments.
- Encourage individuals to take part in social and community activities.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment.
- Complete daily care notes.
- Follow care plans.
- Work closely with colleagues and families to ensure each person receives high-quality, person-centred support.

- Wage: £15,600 for your first year, then could increase depending on your age (National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices).
