About Us

Newham College London, now merged with NewVIc Sixth Form College, is the largest post-16 education provider in Newham. With campuses in East Ham, Stratford, Plaistow, and the London City Institute of Technology (LCIoT) in Canning Town, we serve over 11,000 students across a range of pathways – including 16–18 study, adult education, apprenticeships, and higher education.

With over 800 staff, four main campuses, and an annual turnover of £60 million, Newham College is one of the borough’s largest employers and plays a key role in driving local economic and community development.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Apprenticeship Trainer to deliver our Level 3 CIPD HR Support Apprenticeship programme, with the opportunity to develop and deliver the Level 5 People Professional Apprenticeship as the provision grows.

This is an exciting opportunity to join us at the start of a new journey, helping to build a high-quality, employer-led HR apprenticeship programme that supports learners to develop successful careers in people management. Working closely with employers, apprentices and colleagues across the College, you will play a key role in shaping and developing this new area of provision.

As Apprenticeship Trainer, you will deliver engaging teaching, coaching and assessment that enables apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required by the apprenticeship standard while achieving their CIPD qualification. You will guide apprentices from induction through to End Point Assessment, supporting them to achieve their full potential while ensuring an excellent learner and employer experience.

You will also build strong partnerships with employers, ensuring programmes remain responsive to workforce needs and are delivered in line with apprenticeship funding and quality requirements. As the provision develops, you will contribute to curriculum innovation and help establish Newham College as a recognised provider of high-quality HR and People Professional apprenticeships.

The role is offered on hourly paid basis, at present working over 2 days per week.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment for the Level 3 CIPD HR Support Apprenticeship and future Level 5 People Professional Apprenticeship programmes.
  • Manage a caseload of apprentices, providing coaching, mentoring, guidance and pastoral support throughout their apprenticeship journey.
  • Conduct regular progress reviews with apprentices and employers, tracking progress against apprenticeship Knowledge, Skills and Behaviours (KSBs).
  • Develop engaging schemes of learning, lesson plans and learning resources that reflect current HR best practice and employer needs.
  • Monitor, record and support the completion of Off-the-Job Training requirements in line with apprenticeship funding rules.
  • Prepare apprentices for Gateway and End Point Assessment, ensuring they are fully equipped to achieve successful outcomes.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with employers, acting as the key point of contact throughout programme delivery.
  • Identify apprentices requiring additional support and implement timely intervention strategies to maximise achievement and retention.
  • Maintain accurate learner records using college systems and apprenticeship e-portfolios.
  • Contribute to curriculum development, quality improvement activities, standardisation and internal quality assurance processes.
  • Support the growth and development of Newham College's HR apprenticeship offer, helping to establish a centre of excellence for HR and People Professional training.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
