Position Overview
The Apprentice Service Technician is responsible for providing exceptional customer service and technical support whilst learning on the job and studying towards Refrigeration and Air Conditioning NVQ level 2 and 3. This role plays a crucial role in delivering the highest standards of service in the most efficient manner to maintain customer plant and equipment as installed on-site under our maintenance and service contracts. The goal is to maximize service technician productivity, enhance the overall customer experience, and improve operational technical processes.

This role will undergo a comprehensive training pathway to become a qualified Service Technician.
Key Responsibilities
Customer and Technical
- Able to learn and diagnose system problems when servicing products and equipment on assigned projects and customer site visits.
- Attend customer sites to learn to carry out work for:
- Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
- Customer Breakdowns
- Warranty work
- Hire and Commissioning workloads
- Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, acting as a trusted point of contact whilst gaining confidence working with them.
- Collaborate with:
- Service desk team
- Sales team
- Operations team
- Establish strong communication channels to share key customer insights.
- Use cutting-edge software and technology, along with a variety of hand-tools, following blueprints or engineering specifications to diagnose and repair units—full training will be part of the apprentice pathway.
- Learn how to complete Reporting and Analysis:
- Generate regular reports on completed invoiced work orders.
- Foster strong relationships with customers through exceptional customer service.
- Maintain communicating efficiently with supervisors, regional service managers, senior technicians, and customers on updates while driving continuous improvement.
Internal Controls and Administration
- Studying towards Refrigeration and Air Conditioning NVQ level 2 and 3.
- Knowledge of customer service principles.
- Effective communication skills.
- Analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Proficient in:
- Diagnostics software
- Microsoft Office Suite

Skills and Capabilities
- Knowledge of the manufacturing industry (as part of NVQ studies).
- Strong people and communication skills with a positive mindset.
- Appropriate skills-based certificates or studying towards:
- NVQ level 2 and 3 (Refrigeration and Air Conditioning)
- F-Gas certification (required upon progression).
- Willingness to cover standby and call-outs on a planned scheduled basis, including:
- Weekdays
- Weekends
- Bank holidays
- (Upon achieving NVQ level 2 and 3 with F-Gas qualifications).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- UK driving licence (required as a company vehicle will be provided).
- Right to Work status confirmed for the country of application.
