About The Role
Our projects are more than just your opportunity to make your mark. They’re an opportunity to stretch, test and develop your expertise. Join our Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick team as an Electrician at Sellafield, Seascale and you’ll deliver complex work that really matters to our business, and the world around you.
To undertake electrical installation and maintenance works as part of the MEP infrastructure delivery on the Sellafield site, in compliance with all project specifications, relevant legislation, safety regulations, and company procedures. The role supports the successful execution of BBK’s nuclear and infrastructure projects in a highly regulated environment.
What you'll be doing
Install and commission industrial electrical systems, including power distribution, containment systems, lighting, earthing, and control wiring in accordance with engineering drawings and site standards. Conduct installation works on LV and ELV systems, temporary electrics, and MEP infrastructure within nuclear-regulated environments. Ensure all work is carried out to the highest quality standards, with strict adherence to Sellafield site rules, nuclear safety protocols, and HSE requirements. Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, and other trades to ensure coordinated and timely delivery of MEP works. Read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, cable schedules, and method statements. Undertake testing and inspection in line with IET Wiring Regulations (BS 7671). Complete job records, permits, and relevant documentation as required. Participate in daily briefings, toolbox talks, and safety moments, contributing to a strong safety culture. Support junior electricians and apprentices through mentorship and knowledge sharing.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
