Role Description

The Approved Electrician is a full-time, on-site role based in Cardiff. The role involves carrying out electrical installation, maintenance, inspection and testing and repair work in domestic, commercial, and social housing properties, ensuring compliance with current regulations and company standards. Day-to-day tasks include diagnosing faults, troubleshooting electrical issues, testing and inspecting installations, and completing relevant certification and documentation. The Approved Electrician will liaise with customers and colleagues to plan work, explain findings, and ensure clear communication and minimal disruption in occupied homes. The role also includes maintaining tools and equipment, adhering to health and safety procedures, and supporting apprentices or less experienced team members where required.

  • Strong practical skills in Electricity and Electrical Work, with proven experience in installation and testing.
  • Competence in Maintenance & Repair and Troubleshooting of electrical systems in a range of property types.
  • Understanding of Electrical Engineering principles relevant to building services and safety regulations.
  • Recognised electrical qualifications (e.g., NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent) and current industry certifications (such as 18th Edition wiring regulations).
  • Experience working to compliance standards, including inspection, testing, and completion of electrical certificates.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety, safe systems of work, and risk assessment in on-site environments.
  • Effective communication skills, professional conduct in occupied homes, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Full UK driving license and willingness to travel locally as required.
