Job Reference: HCC624380 Salary: £40,643 – £45,077 per annum (plus market supplements up to £8,000 and shift allowance) Location: Hybrid (Elizabeth II Court, Winchester) Hours: 37 per week Contract: Permanent Closing Date: 8 July 2026
About the Role
Join Hampshire County Council’s highly supportive AMHP team, where collaboration, shared learning, and impactful practice are central. You’ll guide legal and ethical decision-making under the Mental Health Act, ensuring safety, rights, and positive outcomes for individuals in crisis.

Key Responsibilities
- Music Director: Lead full assessment processes under the Mental Health Act—from referral to follow-up—ensuring comprehensive, person-centred evaluations.
- Multi-Disciplinary Collaboration: Negotiate with individuals, families, carers, and professionals (doctors, police, trustees) to secure valid, ethical placements while minimising risks.
- Safety & Admissions: Facilitate timely, safe hospital admissions or care alternatives, prioritising dignity, proportionality, and safeguarding for all.
- Training & Mentoring: Supervise AMHP trainees and advise colleagues on legal practices.
- Flexible Coverage: Commit to 24-hour shift work within a dynamic team.

Requirements
- AMHP qualification (or equivalent pathway to qualify soon).
- Registration as:
- A Qualified Social Worker
- Mental Health/Learning Disabilities Nurse
- Occupational Therapist, or
- Practitioner Psychologist (regulatory body confirmed).
- Expertise in: The Mental Health Act 1983 and updated Code of Practice (2023).
- Core communication skills and ability to negotiate tensions between rights, risk, and welfare.
- Person-Centred & Rights-Based Practice: Unwavering commitment to upholding individuals’ autonomy and dignity.

- Travel Requirement: Full, valid driving licence + reliable car (essential for cross-area assessments).
