Job Title: Approved Mental Health Professional - AMHP Service Area: Adult Social Care - Mental Health Location: Newport Pay Rate: £44.37 per hour Hours: Full-time, Monday to Friday (9am–5pm, with flexibility beyond core hours)

Job Description:

Liquid Personnel is seeking a qualified and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) to join our client’s dedicated Mental Health team. This is a unique and autonomous position carrying statutory responsibilities under the Mental Health Act 1983, including the authority to make decisions that may result in deprivation of liberty under Article 5 of the Human Rights Act.

As an AMHP, you will act independently on behalf of the Local Authority, bringing a vital social perspective to complex mental health assessments. You’ll work collaboratively within multi-disciplinary teams to safeguard individuals, promote autonomy, and ensure that the least restrictive options are always considered.

What will your responsibilities be?

  • Lead and coordinate Mental Health Act assessments in both hospital and community settings.
  • Make autonomous decisions regarding compulsory admissions, balancing legal frameworks with ethical considerations.
  • Collaborate with senior health professionals, challenging decisions where necessary to ensure lawful and appropriate outcomes.
  • Manage complex referrals, including safeguarding cases involving adults and children.
  • Provide expert advice across services such as Home Treatment Teams and Liaison Psychiatry.
  • Supervise and mentor AMHP students and newly qualified professionals, sharing best practice and supporting development.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
