APS Security & Fire

APS Security & Fire are an NSI Gold approved company with 20+ years of experience in the fire and security engineering industry, dedicated exclusively to serving commercial clients. They design, install, monitor, and maintain intruder alarms, fire alarms, CCTV, access control, and integrated security systems.

Job Description

APS are looking to hire TWO brand new apprentices to join their team. As an apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced engineers to install, maintain and fault-find on the following systems:

  • Access Control
  • Video Surveillance
  • Intruder Alarms
  • Fire Alarms

This role involves working alongside experienced engineers, learning technical skills, following health and safety procedures, and helping ensure commercial properties remain safe and secure.

Entry Requirements

  • Must be 18+ due to certain site requirements, please only apply if you are 18 or older
  • Must hold a valid UK driving license due to travel requirements of the role
  • Basic practical electric or engineering skills would be a bonus
  • Fault finding and troubleshooting skills would be a bonus
  • A solid understanding of basic IT
  • Ability to use hand and power tools safely
  • Able to read technical drawings and instructions
  • Customer service skills
  • Reliable, good time keeping and an effective team player
  • Work/site based experience would be highly desirable
  • Maths and English at Grade 4 GCSE (or equivalent)

Your apprenticeship training is delivered by Skills for Security, specialists in fire and security training.

You’ll train through block release at our Watford centre, for one week every eight weeks (Tuesday–Friday).

You’ll work towards a Level 3 Fire, Emergency & Security Systems Technician apprenticeship, gaining real skills and a nationally recognised qualification.

What you’ll do as part of the programme:

  • Train hands-on with real systems
  • Learn from industry experts
  • Complete a wide range of tasks and projects
  • Build evidence from your job to support your learning
  • Sit annual assessments at the centre
