Senior QA Linguistic Test Lead – Universally Speaking, Liverpool

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Collaborate with talented testers, translators, and developers, expertly reporting linguistic issues and relentlessly driving fixes. Whether you’re passionate about detail, games, or shaping player experiences, this role is for you.
  • Serve as the guardian of language across every game—ensuring accuracy, natural phrasing, and cultural fluency in menus, messages, and in-game text.
  • Conduct industry-leading LQA testing using Universally Speaking’s proven methodologies. Your meticulousness ensures no linguistic pitfall is overlooked.
  • Write compelling bug reports in professional databases, tracking fixes to guarantee perfection. Your insights directly enhance textual quality and player immersion.
  • Progress from dedicated tester to LQA expert, mastering the full cycle both for indie projects and AAA تولیدات.
  • Develop and refine test cases, document findings, and establish best practices in linguistic quality assurance (LQA).
  • Engage early with developers and localizers, guiding optimised localisation workflows and fostering seamless cultural alignment.

What You’ll Bring to the Game

  • A born player at heart—you live, breathe, and love games, famous for your passion and ability to critique its sound, flow, and storytelling.
  • Thriving in fast-paced, high-pressure environments without compromising quality or focus.
  • Natural curiosity and resolute determination—you identify inefficiencies, propose improvements, and deliver exceptional results.
  • Technical adaptability—comfortable with databases, spreadsheets (including Excel, Airtable, etc.), testing software, and MS Office Suite. Precisely organised, efficient, and meticulous by nature.
  • UK work eligibility required. This is an onsite role only at our Liverpool office (5th Floor, The Watson Building, 4 Renshaw St, L1 2SA).

Extra Points for:

  • Previous experience in LQA, translation, or proofreading—you know how language shapes games across cultures.
  • Familiarity with translation management systems (TMS) like Memsource, Smartcat, or memoQ.
  • Hands-on experience with test case management tools or grammar/text editing platforms.
  • Insights into gaming trends and their linguistic nuances.
  • A degree in linguistics, translation studies, or a related field—though this isn’t a strict requirement, it will stand out.
