About Us:

Stockfree Farming is a charity working with farmers and crofters across the UK and Republic of Ireland who want to explore what their land could do without livestock.

We provide free, confidential, practical support, from initial conversations through to transition planning, business modelling, funding support, and introductions to farmers who have already made similar changes. Our role is to help people explore their options and develop realistic, financially viable pathways towards stockfree enterprises.

Farmers engage with us at different stages of their journey. Some are simply curious about the possibilities, while others are actively planning a transition. Many continue to operate conventional farming businesses while exploring alternatives. Whatever their starting point, we provide impartial, confidential support that enables informed decision-making and practical next steps.

The Role:

Our advisory team consists of 15 specialists with expertise across a wide range of land management disciplines, 11 of whom are farmers or growers themselves.

We are seeking an experienced Arable Advisor/Agronomist to join our advisory team to provide specialist support to farmers and crofters exploring stockfree arable production.

This is a flexible, freelance role on a project-by-project basis. Advisors are engaged only when their expertise is required, making the role particularly well suited to someone already working in the sector who would like to contribute their knowledge alongside their existing commitments.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

We are particularly interested in hearing from applicants who are farmers or growers themselves, or who have significant practical experience in commercial arable production.

Professional qualifications such as BASIS and FACTS are desirable but are not essential. We place greater value on practical experience, sound technical knowledge and the ability to work constructively with farmers.

Successful advisors combine technical expertise with excellent listening skills, working alongside farmers to develop practical, financially viable options that reflect each business's goals and circumstances.
