Architect

Architect – Residential Layout Design

£35,000–£45,000 | Hybrid Working | 3–10 Years' Experience

Are you a design-savvy Residential Layout Architect with experience in creating commercially successful, policy-compliant housing layouts…?

Ready to join an established, design-led architectural practice with a strong reputation in the residential sector. With a significant pipeline of housing projects, they're looking to strengthen their team with an Architect who understands what housebuilders need today and what's coming tomorrow.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys the challenge of residential masterplanning and layout design, with the technical knowledge to deliver schemes that meet evolving planning policy, technical standards, and Future Homes Standard requirements.

Salary & Benefits

  • £35,000–£45,000 depending on experience
  • Hybrid working – one day per week from home
  • Office attendance on Mondays and Fridays for collaboration and team meetings
  • Working hours: 8:30am – 4:45pm
  • 21.5 days holiday, increasing to 26 days after five years' service

The Role

You'll play a key role in the design and delivery of residential developments, producing thoughtful, practical layouts that balance design quality with commercial viability. Working alongside a collaborative team, you'll contribute across multiple RIBA stages, taking projects from concept through to delivery while developing your career within a supportive practice.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Producing high-quality residential layout designs for housing developments
  • Developing planning and technical drawing packages using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Designing layouts that respond to planning policy, site constraints and housebuilder requirements
  • Supporting projects through multiple RIBA stages
  • Coordinating with planners, engineers, consultants and internal design teams
  • Ensuring designs align with current Building Regulations and evolving Future Homes Standards

What We're Looking For

  • Qualified Architect with approximately 3–10 years' post-qualification experience (recently qualified Architects with strong residential experience will also be considered)
  • Proven experience delivering residential housing layouts for UK housebuilders or residential developers
  • Strong understanding of planning-led design and residential development
  • Experience using AutoCAD and Revit
  • Good technical knowledge of UK Building Regulations and residential design standards
  • Someone who enjoys collaborative working and is keen to develop within a growing team
