Architectural Metalwork CAD Technician / Draughtsperson.
Location: Elland, West Yorkshire.
Job Type: Full time or Part time, permanent.
Andy Thornton's Ltd is seeking an Architectural Metalwork CAD Technician / Draughtsperson to join our Architectural Metalwork Department.
Working alongside the Draughtsman, you will produce detailed AutoCAD drawings for a variety of bespoke architectural metalwork projects, including verandas, canopies, bandstands, gazebos, pavilions and decorative metalwork structures.
The role involves producing drawings for client approval, manufacture, and installation, whilst liaising with architects, contractors, and internal departments to ensure projects are delivered accurately and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce accurate AutoCAD drawings for client approval, manufacture, and installation.
- Develop fabrication, workshop, and installation drawings from architectural and engineering information.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and project requirements.
- Amend and update drawings throughout the project lifecycle.
- Work closely with the Senior Draughtsman and manufacturing teams.
- Liaise with architects, designers, contractors, and project stakeholders.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or equivalent CAD software.
- Ability to produce clear, accurate and detailed technical drawings.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
- Good communication and organisational skills.
- Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
Desirable Skills & Experience

- Experience within architectural metalwork, steel fabrication, construction or a related industry.
- Experience producing fabrication or workshop drawings.
- Understanding of manufacturing and installation processes.
- Experience with 3D CAD software would be advantageous but is not essential.
