Designer / Architectural Technician
Allstaff Manufacturing Division are delighted to bring to the market the role of Designer / Architectural Technician.
This Designer / Architectural Technician role is a key position within the technical team, ensuring building details accurately reflect the specified product solutions and technical requirements. The successful candidate will develop construction issue details, sections, elevations and manufacturing information for residential projects ranging from small developments to large multi-phase schemes. Working closely with clients, architects and project teams, you will help deliver practical, compliant and cost-effective design solutions.
This is an onsite role based in Whiteinch, Glasgow. The hours of work are Monday to Friday and can be either 8:00am – 4:00pm or 9:00am – 5:00pm. A candidate that has strong understanding of current building regulations & working knowledge of new build façade, windows or curtain walling systems, would be preferred but not essential.
Key Responsibilities
As the “Designer / Architectural Technician”, you will require to:
- Attend & contribute to design meetings consisting of consulting with clients, architects, contractors, assisting with technical support.
- Manage your own projects within the Architectural Setting.
- Liaise with Customers, Architects & Project Managers to ensure all installation and manufacturing details are understood.
- Build & develop the construction issue details, covering sections, interfaces & elevations that fully incorporate the product specifications to capture the client’s requirements to allow client sign-off.
- Understand and integrate information provided by the structural engineer into the product detail drawings.
- Producing manufacturing drawings, information & take offs for production.
- Producing take-offs for sub-contract manufactured components.
- Share your knowledge to reduce costs, delays, while ensuring the most effective Design Methods and Concepts. Awareness of Value Engineering to ensure contacts remain on budget.
- Understand the build sequence to ensure smooth on-site delivery.

Requirements
- Strong communicator in both spoken and written English.
- Strong design & analytical skills with attention to detail.
- Experience with qualifications within an Architectural Setting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, confident within Excel and using inboxes within Outlook.
- Strong AutoCAD experience to be able to carry out the drawings and technical submissions.
- Ability to interpret, work with and effectively communicate information taken from technical drawings, specifications, building standards/regulations and other documentation.
- Excellent client service and communication skills with a proven ability to communicate at all levels externally or internally
- Strong organisation and multitasking abilities.
- Demonstrable experience of working to deadlines.

Desirable Skills/Experience
- Experience with Revit / BIM (or similar) is desirable but not essential.
- Experience within glazing industry (preferred for higher calibre of role).
- Knowledge of warranty providers such as NHBC, Premier.
- Highly advantageous if you have experience with new build façades and curtain walling systems.
