Architectural Technologist – Hill
Turn vision into buildability—lead the technical detail behind every design.
As an Architectural Technologist at Hill, you’ll be part of our in-house Technical Design Team, helping to transform concept into reality. You’ll produce working drawing packages, develop standard house types, and coordinate internal and external teams to ensure every home we build is technically sound, cost-effective, and built to last.
From planning through to construction, you’ll ensure accuracy, compliance, and technical excellence, balancing design intent with practical delivery across a variety of residential developments.
Responsibilities
- Lead the preparation of comprehensive working drawing packages
- Develop and manage Hill’s standard house types, components, and details
- Ensure compliance with contract drawings, sales briefs, and statutory standards
- Collaborate with Technical, Construction, Sales, and Design colleagues
- Coordinate external consultants and junior design staff
- Conduct design audits to improve clarity, accuracy, and efficiency
- Maintain compliance with Hill’s BIM/CAD protocols and version control
- Liaise with Local Authorities, joint venture partners, and stakeholders
- Review material specifications and detailing in line with programme and budget
- Support mentoring and development of junior team members

Requirements
- Degree in Architectural or Building Technology, with a strong residential portfolio
- Solid knowledge of UK Building Regulations, CDM, and H&S compliance
- Skilled in AutoCAD, Revit, Photoshop, InDesign, and 3DS
- Familiar with BIM processes and digital drawing standards
- Experience leading or coordinating technical meetings and consultant teams
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to perform technical design reviews
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- CSCS qualification and up-to-date CPD requirements preferred
