The Opportunity

We are now recruiting for Area Authority at Shetland Gas Plant.

The Area Authority is responsible for coordinating and controlling operational work activities across the asset, ensuring all tasks are planned, authorised and executed safely, efficiently and in compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements. Acting as the focal point for the Permit to Work system, the role supports maintenance, intervention and production activities, facilitates effective risk management, and ensures the safe delivery of work across the site.

You’ll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Central figure in the day-to-day management of the Permit To Work (PTW) system within their area of responsibility. Supports and coordinates preparation of documentation and actions required for Permits to Work. Confirms need for complementary permits and ensures relevant permits are initiated.
  • Supports completion of any necessary risk analyses.
  • Ensures necessary permits are approved to allow planned and intervention works to proceed.
  • Manages and administers daily Permit to Work coordination meeting.
  • Acts as Area Authority for SGP/Laggan/Tormore/Edradour/Glenlivet and WoS subsea facilities.
  • Acts as Area Authority for SIRGE BV area.
  • Acts as IMR Liaison Officer in Emergency Response Organisation.
  • Stand in Incident Controller in Emergency Response Organisation.
  • Assist the preparation of weekly planning and shutdown programmes.
  • Manage and administer the daily permit to work meeting and ensure that responsible persons correctly understand requirements for permits.
  • Co-ordinate with maintenance, intervention and drilling teams and vendors representatives to clarify job scopes and permit requirements.
  • Ensure necessary communication and co-ordination with SVT to allow continuous transfer of condensate.
  • Be responsible for activities as defined by safe system of work system.
  • Manage the Permit Coordination facility and keep all data in such a state that it accurately reflects the work state of the site.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Recognised training (HNC, OPITO, SETT’s) in fluid and gas mechanics or oil & gas industry related discipline should be complemented by at least 10 years relevant experience in oil & gas industry/offshore operations.
  • Good knowledge of well operations, plant systems, processes and operating parameters. Good knowledge of plant operating principles and maintenance practices for oil and gas processing.
  • Have excellent communication skills and the ability to interact with personnel at all levels. Have leadership skills in order to direct, co-ordinate and organise work of production team and contracted personnel.
  • Good logical problem solving skills. Ability to use sound rational judgement in decision making.
  • Knowledge of and ability to demonstrate safe working practices. Knowledge of Permit to Work System.
