Area Business Manager - Yorkshire & East Midlands
Automotive Lubricant Sales Specialist (PCMO & HDDO) – TotalEnergies Marketing UK
About the Role
TotalEnergies Marketing UK is focused on expanding market share through organic growth, creative services, and innovative marketing initiatives for new business.
This key commercial role reports directly to the Automotive Sales Manager and is responsible for sales of lubricants and associated services within specified automotive and heavy-duty diesel truck (PCMO & HDDO) markets in a designated geographic area.
Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Prospecting
- Identify and secure new profitable business to meet sales targets (measured in MT & GMVC).
- Conduct extensive market research to discover and track prospect opportunities.
- Maintain comprehensive prospect records for analysis and strategy.

Sales Negotiation & Portfolio Management
- Negotiate optimal volume and profit results for both existing and new accounts.
- Deliver persuasive sales presentations on-site (at customer premises).
- Monitor and improve the performance of existing customer portfolios using performance analytics.
- Ensure adherence to agreed payment terms, aiming to reduce the Days Sales Outstanding (DSO).

Reporting & Operational Efficiency
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records of customer visits, meetings, and market activity.
- Provide consistent weekly and monthly progress reports on time.
- Efficiently manage the allocated geographic territory to maximise customer and prospect time.

Competitor & Market Intelligence
- Track and provide insights on competitor activity and price positioning.
- Understand supply economics for different lubricant grades, including costs (transport, credit, working capital).

Commercial & Strategic Objectives
- Promote TotalEnergies automotive and HDDO products via collaborations with the marketing team.
- Develop technical and strategic partnerships, including engagement with OEMs (Original Equipment Manufacturers).
- Recommend additional products to existing clients where beneficial.
- Identify and quantify new opportunities for TotalEnergies’ lubricant offerings.

- Ensure compliance with TotalEnergies’ HSEQ policies in all professional interactions.
- Actively mitigate risks and ensure regulatory adherence across activities.

Requirements & Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of proven experience in B2B sales (preferably within automotive, vehicle, or technical industries).
- Commercial acumen with a realistic, growth-oriented mindset for new business development.
- Technical understanding of lubricants, their applications, and industry market dynamics.
- Independent and proactive—able to manage workload without constant oversight.
- Strong negotiation skills to secure optimal deals for both volume and profit margins.
- Demonstrable sales record (e.g., forecasts, revenue growth, customer relationship management).
Preferred professional/professional behaviours:
- Familiarity with ERP/CRM systems for sales tracking and reporting.
- Deep knowledge of truck/vehicle maintenance markets.
