We’re looking for an exceptional Area Director to lead a portfolio of veterinary practices across the Bath & Wiltshire region, shaping performance, culture, and strategic direction across multiple brands.
This home-based role involves extensive travel and close engagement with clinical and operational teams, presenting an opportunity to influence day-to-day delivery and long-term regional success.
The Difference You’ll Make
As Area Director, you’ll play a central leadership role in driving:
- Operational excellence
- Commercial performance
- High-quality clinical outcomes
You’ll collaborate closely with Practice Directors, clinical leaders, and operational teams across both single-site and multi-site practices, ensuring each location is supported, aligned, and performing at its best.
Partnering with the Regional Director and HR Business Partner, you’ll deliver a joined-up approach to people leadership, talent development, and organisational culture, embedding a high-performance mindset across a geographically diverse area of more than 20 practices.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead clinical, operational, and commercial performance of practices, ensuring excellent outcomes for patients, clients, and teams
- Hold full accountability for a large, complex regional budget, driving sustainable growth and financial performance
- Translate business strategy into action through effective stakeholder engagement and leadership
- Drive attraction, retention, and engagement initiatives across the region
- Collaborate with the Area Support Manager to deliver aligned priorities, performance improvements, and operational excellence
- Provide direct line management and coaching to clinical and non-clinical Practice Directors
- Support change management, continuous improvement, and long-term regional development plans

Who We’re Looking For
This is a high-visibility leadership role requiring:
- Strong leadership, emotional intelligence, and the ability to inspire teams through change, growth, and challenge
- Experience as a Veterinary Surgeon or Veterinary Nurse, paired with management experience
- A background in professional services, ideally within healthcare or a regulated environment
- Strong commercial awareness, strategic thinking, and relationship-building acumen
- Thrives in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with a passion for patient care, client experience, and business impact

Essential Requirements
- Full and valid UK driving licence
- Extensive multi-site management experience
- Proven track record in managing large-scale budgets
- Willingness to travel extensively across Bath & Wiltshire
- Ability to work up to 40 hours per week (Mon–Fri)

Salary: £65,000 – £80,000 DOE (dependent on experience).
