About The Role
Join one of the UK’s most significant infrastructure projects.
Balfour Beatty Kilpatrick is seeking an Area Health & Safety Lead to support the Mechanical, Electrical and HVAC Alliance (MEH Alliance) at Hinkley Point C. This is a key leadership role, responsible for driving exceptional health and safety performance across a designated area of works on the UK's first new nuclear power station in over two decades.
What you'll be doing
- Lead and promote a strong health and safety culture across your allocated area.
- Support the Deputy Head of HSE in delivering Alliance HSE objectives and standards.
- Manage and develop a team of HSE Advisors.
- Provide expert guidance and support to construction teams throughout planning and delivery.
- Monitor performance, identify trends, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
- Lead audits, investigations, reporting, and assurance activities.
- Ensure HSE data, KPIs, lessons learned, and performance indicators are effectively managed and communicated.
- Champion the HPC Way and contribute to the wider integrated HSESS team.
Who we're looking for
Essential Qualifications
- Chartered IOSH Member or working towards Chartership
- NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent)
Essential Experience & Skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Good working knowledge of Health & Safety legislation and regulations
- Experience communicating HSE standards and expectations across diverse teams
- Experience working with regulators, including hosting and presenting during site visits
- Proven experience leading and managing HSE teams
- Experienced auditor with strong assurance and compliance knowledge
- Ability to obtain security clearance

Desirable
- Experience in a similar HSE leadership role within construction, engineering, or the nuclear sector
- Understanding of Nuclear Site Licence Conditions
- Knowledge of Mechanical, Electrical, HVAC, Scaffolding, and Coatings activities
- Level 3 Award in Education & Training (PTLLS) or willingness to obtain
- Strong analytical and investigative skills with excellent attention to detail
