Area Lead – Hinkley Point C (Permanent Position)
About the Role
Bilfinger UK is a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across key markets including the nuclear sector within Hinkley Point C.
With extensive experience in offshore and onshore facilities, Bilfinger specialises in asset management, construction, and decommissioning across a full project lifecycle—from consulting to operations and maintenance.

This role provides full-time, on-site (Monday–Friday, 40 hours/week) opportunities to drive progress at one of the UK’s most critical infrastructure projects.
The Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Area Lead to oversee daily construction operations on Hinkley Point C, ensuring adherence to nuclear-grade safety, quality, and regulatory standards. This permanent, site-based position requires:
- Project coordination across multiple teams and stakeholders
- Safety leadership, including incident management and compliance enforcement
- Quality control for nuclear construction standards
- Stakeholder liaison with project managers, regulators, and contractors
- Resource optimisation while maintaining on-budget and on-schedule delivery

Daily Operations & Stakeholder Coordination
- Oversee and coordinate construction teams across designated areas to ensure work aligns with project timelines and specifications.
- Manage communications with contractors, subcontractors, project managers, and regulatory authorities, ensuring transparency on progress, challenges, and risk factors.
Safety & Compliance Leadership
- Implement and enforce nuclear-specific safety protocols, addressing high-hazard environments.
- Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and training sessions to foster a zero-incident culture.
- Draft and investigate safety incidents/near misses, documenting lessons learned and correcting procedures.
Quality Assurance
- Enforce strict quality control measures, including pre-construction reviews, field inspections, and testing of materials/processes.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections to support regulatory audits and compliance checks.
Project Governance & Reporting
- Develop construction schedules, balancing products and minimising delays/conflicts across project areas.
- Prepare and submit progress/safety reports, highlighting key milestones, risks, and corrective actions.
- Stay compliant with applicable national/local nuclear regulations and industry standards.
Resource Management
- Optimise labour, materials, and equipment allocation to ensure project efficiency within cost and time constraints.

About You
While Bilfinger years brilliant careers. This role is ideal for candidates with:
- HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) Leadership experience, ideally in nuclear or high hazmat sectors.
- Supervisory experience in construction/engineering—proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage compliance-driven environments.
- **Minimum of 5+ years in site management, construction leadership, or project coordination, with familiarity with nuclear-grade standards (e.g., NNC, HSE Regulatory Regime).
- Strong communication skills with stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot, problem-solve, and adhere to strict protocols.
- Robust numeracy skills for resource and cost /time optimisation.
