**The Role: Area Manager – Permanent, Full-Time

Location: Overview of Plymouth, covering Helston, Warminster, Plymouth, Chivenor and Ilchester Salary: Competitive benefits package including company car/allowance, pension contributions, life assurance, private medical cover, and more


The Opportunity

We are looking for an experienced and proactive Area Manager to lead the delivery of high-quality repairs, maintenance, and property services across a designated operational area. This key operational leadership role represents a lifelong commitment to customer excellence, performance leadership, and high standards of service delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Leadership: Oversee day-to-day performance across reactive repairs, planned works, grounds maintenance, and property services to ensure compliance, safety, and efficiency.
  • Performance Management: Drive performance targets, resource allocation, and commercial excellence while maintaining adherence to health, safety, and compliance standards.
  • Team & Stakeholder Engagement: collaborate with internal teams, customers, supply chain partners, and stakeholders to provide leadership, direction, and support for high-standard service delivery.
  • Contractor & Supplier Oversight: Manage specialist contractors and suppliers to ensure value for money, quality standards, and agreed service levels.
  • Service Continuity: Coordinate reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and out-of-hours support to ensure service continuity with appropriate resource allocation.
  • Data-Driven Improvement: Leverage performance monitoring, trend analysis, and insights to identify opportunities, resolve issues, and enhance service delivery.
  • Financial Stewardship: Manage budgets, spend monitoring, and financial risk mitigation while supporting continuous improvement initiatives across the service area.
  • Team Leadership: Develop a high-performing culture through clear objectives, regular feedback, and professional development, while fostering wellbeing and accountability.
  • **Customer Relations:**Manage complex repairs with clear communication to customers and stakeholdersa, building long-term relationships for collaborative success.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Undertake training to become a Responsible Person for Legionella and asbestos compliance in support of safe property management.

Key Requirements

  • Leadership & Experience: Proven background in repairs, maintenance, property, facilities management, or related customer-focused roles.
  • Team & Contractor Management: Demonstrated ability to Lead teams, manage contractors, and drive performance while balancing customer expectations and commercial needs.
  • Communication & Relationship Building: Confident, persuasive communicator who establishes strong relationships internally and externally to influence stakeholders collaboratively.
  • Commercial Acumen & Analytics: Skilled in budget management, performance analysis, and data-driven decision-making within fast-paced environments.
  • Safety & Quality Champion: Stewardship of health, safety, and continuous improvement underpinned by a motivational, trust-based culture.
  • Agile Problem-Solving: Proactive, solutions-focused, and flexible with a commitment to delivering excellence for hard-to-reach audiences.
