The Opportunity
Walkers Deli & Sausage Co.—part of Samworth Brothers—is seeking a proactive and people-focused Area Manager to lead production teams within the Preparation Area for the PM Shift. If you’re passionate about developing people, driving improvements, and “doing GOOD things with GREAT food”, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and inspire Team Leaders and Operatives to deliver the production plan safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.
- Take ownership of food safety, quality, and audit readiness, ensuring all SOPs and processes are consistently followed.
- Drive operational performance by managing labour, materials, and equipment, analysing KPIs, and implementing Continuous Improvement initiatives.
- Build a positive, values-based culture through effective communication, coaching, and people management, including performance, wellbeing, and attendance.
- Collaborate with Technical, Engineering, Planning, and other departments to resolve issues, support new product trials, and maintain customer satisfaction.

The Ideal Candidate
We welcome candidates who thrive on collaboration and diverse perspectives. As a valued member of our team, you will bring:
- Proven experience as a resilient, credible leader with 2+ years coaching and developing teams in a chilled/high-care food manufacturing environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills, ability to work under pressure, and capacity to make sound decisions.
- Knowledge of food safety, HACCP Level 3, and IOSH (training provided if required).
- Solid understanding of:
- Production processes
- KPIs
- Operational planning in a fast-paced environment
- Exceptional communication skills, ability to:
- Build relationships
- Manage performance fairly
- Drive a positive team culture
