Area Manager

Area/Shift Manager – Amazon UK Services Ltd.

About the Role

When you join Amazon as an Area/Shift Manager, you’ll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to ensure your area keeps pace with demand.

In this hands-on role:

  • You’ll work across a global business to ensure operations run seamlessly.
  • You’ll drive productivity while collaborating with colleagues to address challenges.
  • No two days will be the same—expect variety and dynamic problem-solving.

Key Responsibilities

Your role will focus on:

  • Promoting safety and wellbeing in your team and across operations.
  • Analysing and resolving performance issues to maintain:
    • High quality and productivity standards
    • Meeting business objectives for all shifts
  • Leading and supporting your team, managing administrative tasks while fostering a strong team culture.
  • Reviewing performance data to suggest process improvements that enhance efficiency and customer service.
  • Collaborating with other managers to standardise shift operations.

A Day in the Life

  • Work shifts at operational sites, maintaining safety standards.
  • Monitor and improve process efficiency.
  • Prioritise routines, such as team management and operational tasks, alongside harder-to-anticipate challenges like:
    • Handling individual escalations
    • Process improvement initiatives
    • Large-scale operational contingency planning

Role interactions include:

  • Working with cross-functional teams to meet customer demands.
  • Collaborating with leaders on data/performance analysis.
  • Discussing technical improvements with engineers to assess operational impact.

Requirements & Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • Proficient English communication skills (written and verbal) for interacting with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience in a business-field role.
  • Experience working with stakeholders and using data to drive decisions.
  • A track record of people management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Ability to convey complex ideas clearly in verbal and written communications (both internal and external).
  • Experience in manufacturing, production, logistics, retail, or grocery management.
  • Common practical knowledge of MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional setting.
