Area Manager

Operations Area Manager at Amazon

Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so our customers get their items on time. As an Area Manager, you’ll make sure your site is running smoothly to maintain customer demand.

You will lead a team focused on:

  • Keeping our operations safe
  • Ensuring efficiency and high quality
  • Driving productivity across the network

Key Responsibilities

  • Create, oversee, and establish a culture of safety and wellbeing
  • Analysing and implementing operational changes to maintain quality and productivity standards
  • Overseeing projects that optimise process efficiency, improve productivity, and enhance customer service
  • Analysing shift performance against business objectives and identifying improvements for operational excellence
  • Collaborating with management teams to standardise and refine shift practices

Typical Day in Role

As an Area Manager, your day will involve:

  • Shift-based work to ensure maximum productivity
  • Ownership of safety, quality, and shift performance standards
  • Process improvements within your area, driving implementation
  • Versatility, including:
    • Team management
    • Daily operational tasks
    • Large-scale operational contingencies
  • Mentorship for new managers, setting a role model standard

Requirements

Basic Qualifications

  • Experience in clear, concise communication with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
  • Familiarity with data-driven decision-making
  • Strong English Language skills (both written and verbal)
  • An advanced degree or Bachelor’s degree in any field
