Area/Shift Manager
Customer Fulfilment (CF) – Amazon UK Services Ltd.
When you join Amazon as an Area/Shift Manager, you’ll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to ensure your area of the business keeps pace with demand. In this hands-on role, you’ll learn about the complexity of operations at a global business and what it takes to make everything run seamlessly. While you implement your team’s approach to drive productivity, you’ll also work closely with colleagues to address challenges—meaning no two days will be the same.
Key Job Responsibilities
As an Area/Shift Manager, you will:
- Lead a dynamic team by continuously improving functionality and service levels across Fulfillment Centers, Sortation Centers, and Delivery Stations.
- Analyse data, identify process gaps, and test solutions—ensuring the best improvements are scalable and impactful.
- Collaborate with senior managers, technology development teams, and frontline Associates to deliver creative solutions for some of the most complex business and operational challenges.
A Day in the Life
- Work night shift at one of Amazon’s operational sites.
- Maintain safety standards across your team and the wider site while monitoring and optimising process efficiency.
- Balance routine team management and operational tasks (e.g., prioritising daily operations, escalations, process improvements, and contingency planning for large-scale needs).
- Engage in data-driven discussions with leadership to analyse performance metrics and evaluate technical improvements with engineers.

CF is designed around delivering unmatched speed and affordability, leveraging emerging technology to enhance product range and service. Our locations (referred to as the ‘First Mile’) are where Amazon’s journey begins, maintaining dynamic inventory flows and enabling 24/7 deliveries.

Basic Qualifications
- Experience in operations management.
- Experience working with or evaluating AI systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience leading and managing a team (internal or external).
- Bachelor’s or Bachelor of Arts degree.
