Area Manager – Retail Leadership Role

£66,000–£94,000 per annum | 35 days’ holiday (pro rata) | Full & Part-Time Opportunities Ongoing training | 10% in-store discount | Expensed company car


About the Role

As an Area Manager, you’ll kickstart your leadership journey by gaining hands-on experience across the business—from assisting customers to managing entire stores—before stepping into a high-impact role.

In this dynamic position, you’ll:

  • Coordinate multiple stores, supporting Store Managers in achieving targets and maintaining operational excellence.
  • Conduct regular store visits to uphold efficiency, productivity, and compliance standards.
  • Mentor teams, fostering growth through recruitment, training, and development.
  • Inspire teams to drive KPIs while embedding our Leadership & Company Values.

Responsibilities

  • Operational Leadership:

    • Regularly assess stores for efficiency, productivity, and compliance with company standards.
    • Monitor adherence to KPIs and operational best practices.
  • Team Development & Mentorship:

    • Guide Store Managers in recruiting, training, and performance improvement.
    • Foster a culture of continuous learning among teams.
  • Performance Delivery:

    • Empower teams to exceed targets while maintaining high service standards.
    • Ensure alignment with Lidl’s values in all day-to-day operations.

Requirements

  • Proven Leadership: Experience motivating and managing teams across multiple sites to achieve exceptional results.
  • Analytical Skill: Ability to interpret complex reports and execute actionable strategies for performance growth.
  • Business acumen: Vigilance to stay updated on evolving industry trends and Lidl’s initiatives.
  • Communication & Collaboration: Strong verbal/written skills to train, equip, and inspire teams during launches or process changes.
  • Logistics: Must hold a full UK driving license (company car provided).
