Area Manager
Area/Shift Manager – Amazon UK
About the Role
When you join Amazon as an Area/Shift Manager, you’ll gain experience leading a large and diverse team to ensure your business area maintains high demand performance. In this hands-on role, you’ll learn about the complexities of global operations and what it takes to keep everything running seamlessly.
You’ll implement team strategies to drive productivity while collaborating with colleagues to address challenges—meaning no two days will be the same.
Key Responsibilities
- Promote a safety and wellbeing culture
- Analyse and implement corrective actions to maintain consistent quality and productivity, meeting business objectives across all shifts
- Support and lead a team, manage administrative duties, and build a strong team culture
- Analyse performance metrics and propose process improvements to optimise workflows and enhance customer service
- Collaborate with other managers to standardise shift processes

A Day in the Life
- Work shifts at one of Amazon’s operational sites, ensuring safety standards are upheld within your team.
- Monitor and maintain operational efficiency, balancing routine tasks with special projects like escalation management and process improvement.
- Partner with colleagues across teams and external partners to meet customer demand and targets—using data analysis and performance metrics.
- Discuss operational trade-offs with engineers, helping to evaluate technical improvements.
Basic Qualifications
- English communication skills (written and verbal) to collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
- Bachelor’s degree)** or relevant experience in a professional field
- Experience working with stakeholders at multiple levels
- Ability to use data to inform business decisions
- Experience in people management
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience communicating complex ideas effectively to internal and external stakeholders (both verbally and in writing)
- Background in manufacturing, production, distribution, logistics environments, retail, or grocery management
- Proficiency with the MS Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) in a professional setting
