Area Manager – Logistics Operations
Amazon Logistics, EU AMZL
Amazon’s Operations team drives every success in delivering customer orders globally. As a Area Manager, you’ll lead our logistics sites to ensure efficiency, safety, and high-quality service. We’re expanding our Nexus (same-day micro-fulfilment) and Grocery Delivery services across the EU, and you’ll play a key role in this growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team focused on safety, efficiency, and quality in your assigned logistic site
- Drive cultural change by fostering a grounded culture of ** wellbeing and safety**
- Implement process improvements to enhance operational excellence, productivity, and customer service
- Analyse performance metrics against business objectives to identify and execute targeted improvements
- Collaborate with managers to preserve best practices while refining workflows
- Oversee strategic initiatives to ** streamline operations**, optimise processes, and embed innovation
- Act as a mentor for newer team members, fostering career growth
A Day in the Life
Your role is adaptable, dynamic, and centered on performance and leadership. Key tasks include:
- Team management, conflict resolution, and performance coaching
- Daily operations oversight, ensuring site execution meets KPIs in parity with internal targets
- Process improvement projects to address bottlenecks and enhance scalability
- Emergency contingency planning for disruptive events

About The Team
Amazon Logistics (AMZL) drives last-mile delivery through third-party carrier partnerships, leveraging automation and continuous improvement strategies. Our new initiatives, including Nexus (micro-fulfilment hubs near Delivery Stations) and Fresh/Hot Grocery ready-for-delivery, consolidate fulfilment services to accelerate same-day delivery solutions.
Basic Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business administration, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, HR, or a related discipline (or equivalent education/experience)
- Experience: Proven track record in people/stakeholder management
- Data proficiency: Ability to use analytical methodologies to guide business strategy
- Language: Fluent in spoken, written, and understood English (essential for internal communication)
Preferred Qualifications

- Certifications/Methods: Knowledge of Six Sigma, Lean, or PMP processes

- Technical skills: Proficiency with MS Office (Excel for data models, SharePoint/trends analysis)
