Area Manager
County Wide Area Manager (Adult Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service) – North Yorkshire
Location: North Yorkshire, based at the North Yorkshire Horizons Hub (close to your home) with frequent travel across the county Working Hours: 37 hours per week, Monday-Friday (including on-call rota participation) Contract Type: Permanent Salary: £40,160 – £57,730 per annum (starting salary depends on experience and progression within the band)

About the Team
You’ll join the North Yorkshire Horizons team, leading operations for our adult alcohol and drug recovery service across the county. Based at your local hub, you’ll travel regularly to provide operational leadership, support colleagues, and ensure high-quality, person-centred service delivery.
About the Role
As the County Wide Area Manager, you’ll provide strategic leadership over North Yorkshire Horizons’ services, ensuring they are: ✅ Safe and sustainable ✅ Person-centred ✅ Consistently high-performing
Core Responsibilities
Leadership & Service Oversight
- Lead and oversee adult alcohol and drug recovery services across North Yorkshire.
- Provide coaching and support to Service Managers, fostering high performance and accountability.
- Ensure services comply with organisational policies, safeguarding requirements, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CQC where applicable).

Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships
- Build and maintain strong relationships with commissioners, local authorities, partner organisations, and external stakeholders.
- Represent Waythrough as a visible and influential leader in the region.
Quality, Performance & Compliance
- Monitor service quality, performance, and contractual outcomes using data-driven insights.
- Lead service transformation, mobilisation, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with Governance, Quality, and Compliance on inspections, audits, and reviews.
Operations & Risk Management
- Manage operational budgets, financial performance, and resource planning.
- Lead risk management across services, premises, and staff to ensure health and safety, governance, and compliance.
Strategic Development
- Act as the CQC Registered Manager (if required).
- Support business development, contract growth, and organisational priorities.
About You
Waythrough is seeking an experienced operational leader who is passionate about recovery services and creating positive outcomes for individuals. You should have:
Essential Experience & Qualifications
✔ Leadership experience in drug & alcohol services, mental health, housing, or social care. ✔ Experience managing multiple services or geographically dispersed teams. ✔ Strong knowledge of safeguarding, quality assurance, and regulatory frameworks (e.g., CQC). ✔ Ability to manage operational budgets and drive financial sustainability. ✔ Proven leadership in developing and motivating managers/teams. ✔ Analytical skills to use performance data for service improvement. ✔ Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making abilities. ✔ Resilience, collaboration, and alignment with Waythrough’s values.

✅ Essential Qualification: Level 5 leadership or management qualification (or equivalent experience). ✅ Desirable: Degree-level or professional qualification (e.g., RMN, DipSW). ⚠ Mandatory: Full UK driving licence + willingness to travel regularly across North Yorkshire.
