Area Manager – Operations (UK)
Operations is the beating heart of Amazon. This key part of our business ensures we fulfil and dispatch orders efficiently so that our customers get their items on time.
As an Area Manager, you’ll make sure your site operates smoothly to meet customer demand. You will lead a team that helps maintain safe, efficient, and high-quality operations while driving cross-network projects to boost productivity.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, oversee, and drive a culture of safety and wellbeing
- Analyse and implement changes to sustain high-quality productivity
- Oversee projects to streamline processes, optimise productivity, and enhance customer service in your area of responsibility
- Assess shift performance against business objectives, then implement corrective actions to further operational excellence
- Collaborate with senior management to standardise shift best practices

A Day in the Life
You’ll work in a shift-based role, ensuring maximum productivity across your site. Your primary focus will be:
- Owning and driving a safety-focused culture
- Maintaining quality and shift performance standards
- Supporting process improvements and overseeing project implementation
- Leading team management, daily operations, and large-scale operational contingency tasks
You’ll also serve as a role model and mentor for new managers.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, data science, public administration, finance, engineering, human resources, or a related field
- OR an MBA with experience communicating results to senior leadership
Preferred Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in the last 12 months in engineering, technology, science, operations research, robotics, mathematics, or a related field
- OR an Associated’s degree with Amazon (including subsidiaries/affiliates) or relevant operational experience
