The Role: Regional Relief Chef
In this critical role, you’ll play a vital part in ensuring our residents enjoy exceptional catering across our care homes. Your dedication will directly contribute to their health, happiness, and sense of community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide shift cover for kitchen teams across multiple care homes in the northern region (including Luton).
- Support Chief Chef Managers by assisting with:
- Menu planning
- Team management (including day-to-day oversight during absence)
- Promoting food hygiene and safety (risk assessments, standards monitoring)
- Maintaining high cleanliness standards
- Cover holidays, sickness, and emergencies as required by your schedule.
- Be fully mobilised to travel across the region—reliability and flexibility are essential.

About You
We’re looking for a passionate, proactive, and experienced Chef who thrives in a dynamic environment and shares our commitment to 5-star quality catering. Here’s what you’ll bring:
- Personality: Friendly, approachable, and guiltlessly dedicated—you’ll engage with residents, their families, and guests with warmth and professionalism.
- Experience:
- Proven relief chef experience in catering/hospitality.
- 3+ years (ideally) in a Chef role or hospitality management.
- Experience working within homes of nursing or care services is advantageous.
- City & Guilds 7061 or NVQ Level 2 in Catering for Hospitality (essential).
- Professional Requirements:
- Valid full UK driving license.
- Full access to a reliable vehicle (essential for multi-site travel).
- Valid food hygiene certificate (mandatory).
- Reflexive attitude: Can operate independently, take initiative, and take ownership of tasks.
