Relief Chef – Peterborough Area (Cover Across Care Homes)

The Role: Regional Relief Chef

Responsibilities

Supporting and enhancing our kitchen teams across multiple locations, your key responsibilities include:

  • Cover Shift Work: Provide flexible shift cover to maintain clustered care-home catering teams across northern sites.
  • Team Leadership: Assist Chef Managers in overseeing and managing staff and catsering operations.
  • Food Safety & Quality:
    • Ensure adherence to food hygiene and safety standards.
    • Conduct risk assessments.
    • Maintain high kitchen standards.
  • Holiday & Sickness Cover: Step in as directed to ensure consistency in meal provision.
  • Operator-Authority Support: Act as Chief of Staff in a Chef Manager's absence.
  • Menu Planning: Collaborate with Chef Managers to create nutritionally balanced and appetising menus.

About You

We seek confident, passionate, and clinically driven culinary professionals who thrive in fast-paced environments. Ideal candidates will:

  • Have fluent client communication abilities (interacting with residents, guests, and families).
  • Proven experience as a Relief Chef within the catering sector.
  • Valid UK Driving License with personal transport availability (travel is essential between sites).
  • Ability to operate across all regional locations.
  • Up-to-date food hygiene certification.
  • Passion for crafting high-quality, nutritious meals.
  • Strong self-starter attitude with initiative and a thirst for responsibility.
  • Recommended City & Guilds 7061 or NVQ Level 2 in Catering.
  • Ideally 3+ years’ experience as a Chef or equivalent role.
