Relief Chef Position Available – Peterborough Area (Care Home Catering Cover)

About the Role

We are seeking a Relief Chef to provide cover across our Care Homes in the Peterborough area. This is a varobic, proactive role with exceptional benefits for dedicated professionals passionate about excellence in food and service.


Work Details

  • Hours: 40 hours per week, including rota-based weekend shifts
  • Geographic Scope: Support across multiple care homes in the Peterborough/regional northern locations

  • Ensure smooth operations by covering shifts across a cluster of care homes in the region.
  • Support Chef Managers in managing the catering team and upholding food hygiene & safety standards (risk assessments, cleaning, compliance).
  • Deliver holiday & sickness cover as required by schedule.
  • Maneuver as on-call kitchen leader during Chef Manager’s absence.
  • Collaborate with Chef Managers in menu planning, optimizing quality and variety.

About You

Key Skills & Qualifications

  • Proactive & ambizon with a track record of high-quality food production.
  • Proven Relief Chef experience (preferably in care homes or catering).
  • Customer-focused mindset – you’ll interact with residents, their families, and guests.
  • Valid Driver’s License and personal transport access (essential for regional travel).
  • City & Guilds 7061 or NVQ Level 2 in Catering for Hospitality.
  • Food hygiene certificate is a must.
Experience & Qualifications Preferred
  • 3+ years as a Chef or in a similar environment (multicuisine appreciation a plus).
  • Straightforward situational flexibility and problem-solving ability.
