Area Sales Manager – Permanent Position

Overview
Finning Power Rental is one of the world’s leading providers of custom rental power solutions, offering an extensive range of world-class rental equipment. This includes power generators, load banks, and transformers.
We are seeking a motivated and technically proficient Area Sales Manager to join our team.
Job Description
The Area Sales Manager will drive Finning Power Rental solutions to both current and prospective customers, delivering technical expertise in products and services. Leveraging your industry knowledge and customer relationship skills, you’ll help maximise profitability and market share.
Responsibilities
Market Engagement
- Generate high-quality sales leads and identify customer requirements
- Win new customers while nurturing existing relationships to create new opportunities in targeted markets
- Build long-term, mutually beneficial relationships to drive market share growth
- 70% new business
- 30% account management
Sales Plan Development
- Develop and execute a Sales Plan covering segments and territories, using digital tools, lapsed accounts, and portfolio data
- Prepare and deliver quotes
- Create and present technical recommendations
- Attend marketing events
- Maintain records on Customer Lifecycle Management (CLM)
- Provide timely reports (financial, sales forecasts, cost/sales analysis)
- Collaborate on revenue projections

Receivables Management
- Ensure all monies are collected within agreed payment terms
Collaboration
- Work closely with Technical Operations, Applications, and Finance
- Ensure a holistic quality in proposals and service delivery to customers
Qualifications & Experience
- Tertiary qualification in engineering (Mechanical or Electrical preferred)
- Relevant experience in industrial services or rental businesses
- Strong track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets
- Proven contract negotiation skills
- Experience in customer relationship management
- Product knowledge, particularly in generator systems or related technical products
- Market awareness of the rental industry
- Ability to achieve market share growth while maintaining revenue targets and customer satisfaction
