The Role: Area Sales Manager (Service), Thames Valley / M4 Corridor

Location: Thames Valley / M4 Corridor (Remote, hybrid/hybrid-heavy work possible—consult below for accuracy) Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent

We’re looking for an Area Sales Manager (Service) to focus on the Thames Valley/M4 Corridor. Your role will be to convert newly installed Carrier equipment into maintenance contracts while capturing existing Carrier systems that have lapsed from maintenance agreements. This is a dynamic opportunity for an experienced sales professional in a multi-million-pound maintenance contract business.


Key Duties & Responsibilities

Customer Conversion & Relationship Management

  • Prospect and qualify potential customers using:
    • Existing Carrier equipment database
    • Referrals, internal leads, and competitor site databases/directories
    • Competitor equipment installations
  • Present a proactive maintenance contract offer for newly installed Carrier units before warranty expiry
  • Develop strong customer rapport through active listening and targeted questioning to:
    • Identify equipment needs
    • Understand budgets, decision-making timelines, and commitments -Coordinate next steps clearly

Technical Sales & Delivery

  • Conduct site surveys and facility walkthroughs to:
    • Evaluate equipment conditions & operational needs
    • Leverage this data in proposal development for maintenance agreements
  • Deliver effective sales presentations tailored to organisations’ technical and commercial motivations.
  • Ensure contract negotiation resolves customer concerns while maximizing alignment with Carrier’s solutions.

  • Maintain and populate Salesforce to:
    • Track sales opportunities
    • Monitor active backlog of leads and follow-up tasks
    • Collaborate with Customer Operations to respond to finance-related query tools and drivers.

Requirements

Professional Experience & Sales Skills

  • Proven track record as a Service Sales Manager, Commercial Account Manager, or customer-facing business development professional.
  • Bonus 1: Knowledgeable about Carrier’s Chiller, HVAC, or Heat Pump equipment.
  • Bonus 2: Highly proactive and willing to learn complex technical domains quickly.
  • Exceptional adaptable communicator (representing Carrier at events/walking in and out of client environments).

Documentation & Compliance

  • UK Driving Licence (essential for site visits).
  • IT-savvy with experience using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Demonstrated experience accessing CRM tools like Salesforce.

Compensation & Benefits

Salary Pay Range

  • Base Salary: £55,000 - £84,000 per annum (doing slightly above £55kt or below frequently for strong candidates with exceptional head count will require justification).
    • Factors affecting pay: negotiation merit, location (include commutation-related costs, city differences), and demonstrated conversion metrics. Investigating fair earthquake potential.
