The Role
Due to continued growth, we are expanding our External Sales Team and are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Sales Manager – Midlands.
This is a regionally based role covering the Midlands, ideally located around the Northampton area.
Candidates must have proven experience selling building products directly to merchants and be based within the region. The successful applicant is likely to be operating in a similar role.
You will be responsible for the effective day-to-day management, growth, and development of merchant accounts across the area.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement an area business plan aligned with Timloc’s overall commercial strategy.
- Build, maintain, and grow high-quality, long-term relationships with both National and Independent merchant customers to maximise sales opportunities.
- Ensure consistent, professional standards of operation at all times, CRM reporting via Salesforce, quotations, pricing, and timely administration.
- Regularly review and analyse sales data to support commercial activity and identify customer and product growth opportunities.
- Identify and develop mutually beneficial relationships with: Groundworkers, Brickwork contractors, Roofing contractors, Dry lining contractors.
- Develop productive working relationships with developers at both local and regional levels.
- Visit developer sites to understand current specifications and identify opportunities for the Timloc product range.
- Ensure merchant customers are fully informed about both existing and newly introduced products within the Timloc range.
- Deliver product training to merchant branch teams, either in-branch or via Microsoft Teams.
- Offer and Maintain in branch product merchandising.

Essential Skills & Experience
- Proven experience selling building products directly to merchants (essential).
- Existing relationships with merchant customers within the Midlands region (essential).
- Confident and effective formal and informal presentation skills.
- Excellent written and face-to-face communication skills.
- Proven negotiation and account management capability.
- Highly self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Well-developed time management and organisational skills.
- Sound commercial awareness and business acumen.
- Confident user of Microsoft Office and Salesforce CRM.
