The Role

Reporting to the Regional Sales Manager, the Area Sales Manager is responsible for promoting Nuaire’s commercial product ranges including XBC heat recovery units, bespoke AHU and Boxer packaged solutions amongst others to secure firm specification commitments from new and existing mechanical consultant accounts. Working closely with internal cross-functional teams to gain and uphold consultant specifications, the postholder will be an ambassador for Nuaire and accountable for achieving sales and performance targets.

  • Working hours: Monday-Friday, 37 hours per week.
  • Working style: Field-based. The successful candidate must live within the territory.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strategic network of key consultants and build strong business relationships by regularly visiting, calling, and holding professional meetings, seminars and events; some of which may be outside of normal working hours.
  • Make sure that all enquiries are responded to in a timely manner and be accessible for customers and colleagues alike.
  • Work closely with the Nuaire Contractor Representative to identify successful contractors and ensure specifications are held and profitably negotiated at order stage.
  • Take opportunities to convert competitor specifications and design and build projects by closely following projects and sharing information with colleagues and updating company tracking systems.
  • Achieve and aim to exceed area sales targets and key performance targets e.g. call rates.
  • Gain and maintain product and technical competence across the Nuaire product range and confidently present product and control information to a wide audience.
  • Ensure communication and close working relationships are developed with the internal commercial sales office, technical teams and wider company areas.
  • Report market conditions and competitor activity into the business.
  • Support marketing initiatives to actively promote Nuaire product ranges internally and externally in order to maintain high levels of brand and product awareness.
  • Maintain an accurate and current project log, undertake sales administration and provide regular updates to the Regional Sales Manager.

The Person

Self-motivated, highly organised and understanding of the sales process and customer expectations with an awareness of the impact that poor service has on customer trust and Nuaire’s reputation. Enthusiastic about the product, team and able to respond positively in the face of setbacks in a fast-paced changing environment. The postholder must be willing and able to cover the geographic region from their location base.

Essential:

  • Knowledge of the construction, mechanical specification and contracting industry.
  • A current, clean driving licence.
  • Demonstrated experience of managing customer relationships in a sales or professional environment.
  • Excellent negotiation & influencing skills.
  • Good organisation and time management skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Is self-aware with good people skills - has an available and approachable style, able to gain the respect and trust of customers and colleagues.
  • Good IT skills for administration (Microsoft Office or equivalent).

Desirable:

  • Technical/Consultant Engineer looking to make a switch into sales.
  • Experience of delivering product presentations and hosting seminars.
  • Conversant with project and lead generation software, although training will be provided.
  • Technical knowledge of ventilation products would be advantageous, but not essential as training will be provided. Equally important is the willingness to understand technical products.
  • Understanding of Mechanical Engineering within Building Services.
