Area Sales Manager – Surfacing & Play Sectors Role Overview Location: North of England (Field-Based) Territory: Cheshire, Cumbria, County Durham, Derbyshire, Greater Manchester, Lancashire, Lincolnshire, Northumberland, Westmorland, Yorkshire Salary: £38,000 – £45,000 Base Salary + Uncapped Bonus + Company Car + Benefits Sector: Construction, Surfacing, and Outdoor Play
About Our Client We are partnering exclusively with a genuine market leader in the surfacing industry. Renowned for delivering premium, high-durability surfacing solutions, they hold an enviable reputation across the sports, local authority, and play sectors. Due to sustained commercial growth, they are now seeking a high-calibre Area Sales Manager to take full ownership of their Northern territory.
Key Responsibilities As the Area Sales Manager, you will lead a dual-focus strategy of account management and new business development across the North of England. Strategic Growth: Formulating and executing a territory business plan to manage existing accounts and convert new business opportunities. Contractor Network Management: Supporting an established network of regional Surfacing Contractors while systematically onboarding new contractors. Specification & Pitching: Promoting a market-leading surfacing range directly to Local Authorities, Sports Clubs, Community Projects, and Play Equipment Manufacturers. Project Tracking: Identifying and pursuing upcoming commercial tenders and local projects to secure early-stage quoting opportunities. Technical Consultation: Acting as the go-to regional expert, providing technical product advice to Sports Contractors, Architects, Town Planners, and Design Consultants. CRM & Reporting: Leveraging the internal CRM system to maintain data accuracy, tracking competitor trends, and reporting pipeline forecasts.

Requirements
What We Are Looking For We want to hear from driven, autonomous sales professionals who match the following criteria: Sales Background: A proven track record in consultative, solution, or technical B2B sales. Sector Cross-Over: Prior experience within outdoor play, landscaping, surfacing, or civil engineering is highly desirable. Alternative Backgrounds Welcomed: Experience working within tool/plant hire, builders' merchants, electrical wholesalers, trade counters, or heavy construction supply environments. Communication: Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to comfortably deliver tailored product presentations to technical stakeholders. Mobility: A self-motivated operator who is comfortable managing their own diary and travelling extensively across the North of England. Licence: Full UK Driving Licence is essential.
