Role Description
The Area Sales Representative (Scotland) will be responsible for acquiring new business, managing sales across the region, with a primary focus on Glasgow and surrounding areas. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Glasgow, involving regular visits to supermarkets, independents, and wholesalers to build relationships, secure new listings, and grow existing accounts.

Day-to-Day Tasks Include:

- Planning and executing sales routes
- Presenting product ranges
- Negotiating terms
- Monitoring stock levels
- Ensuring effective merchandising in line with brand guidelines
Other Responsibilities:
- Tracking sales performance
- Reporting market insights
- Coordinating with internal teams on promotions and supply
- Supporting retailer partners with product training and category development
The successful candidate will represent Shankar Foods professionally, champion World Foods in their territory, and contribute to achieving regional sales targets.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in field sales, account management, or territory management within FMCG, grocery, or food distribution.
- Strong relationship-building and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence store decision-makers and secure new business.
- Solid commercial awareness, including understanding of margins, pricing, promotion mechanics, and category performance.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders in person and via phone/email.
- Effective time management, route planning, and organizational skills to manage a wide geographical territory efficiently.
- Comfort with basic digital tools (CRM systems, spreadsheets, email, and reporting software) for tracking visits and sales data.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across Scotland as part of the role.
- Knowledge of World Foods or multicultural grocery markets is an advantage, as is experience working with major UK retailers.
- Self-motivated, target-oriented mindset, with the ability to work independently while collaborating closely with central teams.
- Right to work in the UK; relevant education in business, marketing, or a related field is beneficial but not mandatory.
