Contract: 36.5 hours per week
Additional Requirements:
- Sponsorship unavailable for visa holders. Applicant must have indefinite leave to remain or alternative right to work in the UK without employer sponsorship.
- Enhanced DBS check required (for Adults and Children).
- Must attend evening/weekend meetings and respond to emergencies outside standard working hours.
- Full driving licence and access to a vehicle essential.
About the Role
Join Birmingham City Council’s Housing Management Service as an Area Senior Service Manager—a leadership position shaping high-quality neighbourhood services across the city.
Reporting to the Head of Locality Services, you’ll lead multidisciplinary teams to deliver resident-focused housing solutions, drive improvements, and align services with local priorities. This role aligns strategic vision with operational delivery, ensuring positive outcomes for thousands of tenants and communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and inspire large, diverse teams to achieve performance targets and enhance housing services.
- Develop and execute locality business plans, neighbourhood strategies, and service priorities tailored to resident needs.
- Foster strong partnerships with residents, community groups, elected members, and stakeholders to drive local improvement.
- Substantially oversee:
- Estate inspections and maintenance
- Service contract management
- Tenancy and caretaking operations
- Utilise performance data, resident feedback, and customer insights to optimise service delivery and uncover opportunities.
- Manage budgets, resources, and competing demands to ensure cost-effectiveness and high service standards.
- Facilitate change management and cross-service collaboration to deliver strategic objectives.

We’re seeking a visibly engaged, evidence-driven leader with proven expertise in housing management, team leadership, and operational improvement.
You Will Bring:
- Substantial leadership experience managing large, varied teams in housing services or customer-facing environments.
- Deep knowledge of housing legislation and best practice.
- Ability to design and deliver neighbourhood initiatives that enhance local services and community wellbeing.
- A data-driven approach, applying insights to refine service performance.
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills—capable of influencing senior leaders, engaging trustees, and collaborating with delivery partners.
- Proven effectiveness in budget management, resource allocation, and balancing priorities under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to navigate change while maintaining service quality and trust.

- Working Hours:
- Core 36.5 hours/week, including on-call duties for emergency responses.
