No two days are the same in this role. One day you could be overseeing a capital project, the next managing urgent maintenance issues, ensuring compliance tasks have been completed or working alongside school leaders to plan future improvements.
We're looking for an Area Site Manager to support five schools across Hockley, leading on estates activities, to ensure our buildings remain safe, compliant and ready to provide the best possible environment for children and colleagues.
Whether your background is in facilities management, construction, property, engineering or project management, this is an opportunity to start your career where you make a visible difference every day.
What You'll Be Doing
- Overseeing the maintenance, compliance and safety of five school sites.
- Managing contractors and coordinating planned and reactive maintenance.
- Leading local capital projects and site improvements.
- Working closely with school leaders to prioritise estates needs.
- Acting as the appointed person for asbestos and legionella management.
- Being an active leader, ensuring high standards of health and safety across the schools.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
