Area Support Manager
Area Support Manager - Community Pharmacy
Salary: £37,000 per annum
Benefits:
- Company vehicle, laptop, and mobile phone provided
- Multi-site role with flexible 40-hour work week (support across designated pharmacy branches)
- Ideal location: Central Belt
Weekend Requirement: Rotational Saturday on-call support
About the Role
We’re seeking a dynamic, people-focused Area Support Manager to step into this impactful leadership role. You’ll partner closely with Pharmacy Managers and branch teams to deliver:
- Exceptional patient care
- Strong commercial performance
- High operational standards across a network of pharmacies.
This is a hands-on position with varied responsibilities—ideal for someone who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and meaningful impact.
What You’ll Be Doing
Supporting Branch Success
- Work alongside Pharmacy Managers to drive operational and clinical performance
- Provide practical support during periods of change, growth, or staffing challenges
- Help branches meet key NHS and private service targets
- Enforce consistency, standards, and best practices
- Ensure outstanding patient and customer experiences
Leading and Developing People
- Coach Pharmacy Managers in leadership responsibilities
- Identify and develop future talent
- Support recruitment, onboarding, and colleague development
- Guide managers on employee relations and performance conversations
- Cultivate a positive culture focused on accountability, engagement, and teamwork

Driving Performance
- Monitor branch performance to uncover improvement opportunities
- Support branches in meeting service, retail, and operational targets
- Develop improvement plans as needed
- Analyse key performance data and translate insights into action
- Assist with workforce planning and cost management
Ensuring Quality and Compliance
- Conduct branch visits, audits, and operational reviews
- Promote adherence to company procedures and regulatory requirements
- Support incident investigations and continuous improvement
- Maintain inspection-ready standards
- Escalate risks appropriately
Working as a Key Business Partner
- Serve as the connection between branches and senior leadership
- Support new initiatives and business improvements
- Share best practices across the region
- Provide regular performance updates and opportunities

Essential Skills
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent communication and coaching abilities
- Highly organised, with a keen attention to detail
- Proficient at using performance data to drive results
- Ability to manage multiple priorities across multiple locations
- Full UK driving licence
Desirable Experience (but not required)
- Previous pharmacy experience
- Experience managing multiple sites (pharmacy, healthcare, or retail)
- Familiarity with NHS and private pharmacy services
- Experience in employee relations and HR processes
- Background in retail management
