Area Support Officer
Area Support Officer – Multi-Site Security Role (Newcastle)
About the Role
This is a mobile, multi-site security role requiring flexibility to support operational needs across Newcastle. Shift patterns will vary depending on site requirements.
We are seeking a professional, reliable, and adaptable Area Support Officer to provide flexible security cover across multiple client locations. This role demands the ability to quickly adapt to different environments, maintain high professional standards, and deliver a first-class security service while ensuring the safety and protection of people, property, and assets.
The ideal candidate will:
- Monitor site activity, conduct patrols, and maintain accurate records
- Respond to incidents and support operational continuity through flexible deployment
- Ensure compliance with security protocols while adapting to varying operational needs
Key Responsibilities
- Provide professional security cover across multiple client sites, delivering a consistently high standard of service.
- Conduct regular site patrols and inspections as per assignment instructions and site-specific procedures.
- Monitor premises visually and via CCTV systems, responding to alarms, incidents, and security alerts promptly.
- Support the safety and security of people, property, assets, and premises at all times.
- Record and log:
- Vehicle movements
- Visitor access
- Contractor attendance
- All site activities (including accurate daily occurrence records)
- Monitor site activity and report suspicious behaviour, security breaches, or operational concerns immediately.
- Ensure access control procedures comply with site requirements and security protocols.
- Maintain accurate security records, incident reports, and operational documentation.
- Adhere to assignment instructions, company policies, and client requirements in all duties.
- Comply fully with company Health & Safety policies and procedures.
- Provide flexible support across multiple locations, adapting to varying environments and operational needs.
- Cover annual leave, sickness absence, and staffing shortages to maintain service continuity.
- Demonstrate flexibility with working patterns, shift schedules, and deployment locations.
- Deliver excellent customer service, maintaining positive working relationships with:
- Clients
- Visitors
- Contractors
- Colleagues
- Present a professional image as an ambassador for OCS and the client at all times.

Requirements
Essential
- Right to Work in the UK and ability to pass BS7858 vetting.
- Valid SIA Licence.
- Confident computer literacy and ability to operate security systems (including CCTV).
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills (able to engage effectively at all levels).
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to remain vigilant in busy environments.
- Professional approach with high standards of personal presentation.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a security environment.
- Experience using CCTV and access control systems.
- Flexible approach to working across multiple sites.
