Area Technical Manager – Concrete (Heidelberg Materials UK)

About the Role

This role, Area Technical Manager (ATM), requires leadership in a defined geographical region, ensuring:

Key Responsibilities

Core Performance Areas

  • Achieve highest possible health and safety standards within operational areas.
  • Drive the implementation of a region-specific Technical Strategy Plan.
  • Maintain and exceed company quality assurance targets.

Technical Excellence

  • Stay updated with industry, market, and competitor trends to ensure competitive edge.
  • Optimise material costs while maintaining efficiency and product performance.
  • Innovate and refine Heidelberg Materials’ product and service quality.

Compliance & Operational Enhancement

  • Ensure full adherence to:
    • European and British Standards
    • QSRMC regulations
    • IMS and Heidelberg Materials Quality Technical System Manuals
  • Consistently monitor product and raw material performance using NDAC systems.

Issue Resolution & Risk Management

  • Assess and minimize risks and business costs for unresolved technical or quality issues.
  • Investigate and resolve customer quality complaints and non-conformities.

Business Support

  • Support national initiatives for digitalisation and sustainability.
  • Submit periodic reporting as per the multinational business timeline.

Training & Development

  • Provide technical training to new departmental employees and customers as directed.

  • Proactively identify and communicate areas for quality and cost efficiency improvements internally.
