Summary of Vacancy

Are you an Experienced Workshop Manager or looking to take the next step in your career within the world of fleet? We’re excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for an Area Workshop Manager to join our team at SUEZ in Luton. This is a high-impact role, perfect for someone who thrives on variety, problem-solving, and building strong relationships across a large operational area.

In this role, you’ll take ownership of the Luton fleet workshop as well as external service providers across Luton, working closely with other Workshop Managers, HGV Technicians, and key service partners. Together, you’ll ensure our extensive fleet of Heavy Goods and Commercial Vehicles stays available, reliable, safe, and fully compliant - supporting our operational teams to deliver essential services.


About The Role

  • Salary: £58,199.00 + Yearly Bonus
  • Location: Luton
  • Areas you will be covering: Dorset, Greater London, Southeast
  • Days / Hours of work: Monday to Friday
  • Hours per week: 37.5 hours per week

What will I be doing?

  • Managing the maintenance of all fleet assets across multiple sites in the Manchester region.
  • Ensuring fully compliant vehicles are provided to operations in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for each workshop resource and budgetary targets.
  • Overall responsibility for the health and safety of the employees within the workshop.
  • Compiling monthly reports on workshop activities.
  • Managing all employee-related matters.
  • Promoting best practice across your remit and ensuring all SUEZ recycling and recovery UK procedures are adhered to.

What are the requirements?

  • Previous experience of managing multi-site maintenance facilities.

  • Higher National Certificate (HNC) approved apprenticeship in vehicle engineering or equivalent.

  • Health and safety qualification, Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) or higher.

  • Management qualification.

  • Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC) road haulage operations.

  • To be conversant with the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) guide to maintaining roadworthiness.

  • Display product knowledge of refuse collection vehicles and systems.

  • Significant industry knowledge.

  • Knowledge of all aspects of vehicle compliance criteria.

  • To be conversant with the principles of fleet management systems.

  • Financial awareness.

  • Health and safety.

  • Knowledge and experience of Lean, 5s methodology.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team.

  • Computer literate, with excellent planning, organizational, and communication skills.

  • Honest, responsible, and respectful manner with professional conduct.

  • Prioritizing the health, safety, and wellbeing of employees, customers, and other personnel.

  • Complying in all circumstances with the laws and regulations connected with your activities.
