Job Title: Mechanic (Armament)

Location: RAF Marham (Full time on-site)

Salary: £36,443.00

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Ejection Seat Supervisor, you will be responsible for undertaking maintenance on Crew Escape System and Armament components at the direction of the Armament Lead within the Ejection Seat Back-shop Facility, Aircraft Role Equipment Facility, and the Maintenance & Finish Facility.

Core Duties

  • Undertake detailed maintenance, test, and inspection activities on the Ejection Seat, Canopy, and Role Equipment for both scheduled and unscheduled maintenance activities
  • Assure that all work carried out has been completed in accordance with the SOW/Work package using the relevant approved technical information. Resolve faults and maintenance issues, including an awareness of configuration management
  • Demonstrate a flexible and proactive attitude to carrying out responsibilities appropriate to the role and take direction appropriately
  • Progress reporting against delivery targets to supervisor
  • Undertake support tasks within the Ejection Seat Back-shop Facility, Aircraft Role Equipment Facility, and the Maintenance & Finish Facility that are required to maintain compliance with the MOE and AMC procedures (e.g., oversight checks, control of tooling/test equipment, etc.)
  • Ensure personal compliance with the risk assessments, SHE policies, and procedures

  • Completion of an Engineering Apprenticeship, ideally in Aeronautical Engineering, or Military equivalent apprenticeship/qualifications
  • Academic qualification for this role is a minimum of City & Guilds 2675 or 2661 in Aeronautical Engineering and Maintenance or equivalent
  • Relevant experience (including NVQ year), to build up skills, knowledge, and authorities on Aircraft or in Bays
  • Demonstrating breadth of experience, currency & recency via a Log Book (electronic or paper) to capture the build-up of skills, knowledge, and authorities on Aircraft or in workshops
  • Knowledge of Explosive safety and Aircraft Assisted Escape Systems
  • Knowledge of the Regulatory Framework and explosives safety (MAOS Mil Part 145 and EaPW)
