QM Support Officer – Defence Accommodation Stores & Building Custodian
Location: Wattisham, Suffolk (IP7 7RA) Contract Type: Permanent (37 hours per week, on-site) Department: Joint Aviation Command (JAC) – Wattisham Flying Station
About the Role

This position oversees Defence Accommodation Stores (DAS) and performs Building Custodian duties across the Wattisham Flying Station. Full training is provided on mandatory and desirable qualifications, with opportunities for professional development.
Wattisham Flying Station (WFS) is a large airfield base supporting 1 Aviation Brigade Attack. Successful candidates will join a multidisciplinary team where efficiency, accuracy, and adaptability are key.
Key Responsibilities
As the QM Support Officer, you will be responsible for:
Defence Accommodation Stores (DAS) Management
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date accounting of all DAS inventories via quarterly checks.
- Ensure financial records are audit-ready.
Building Custodian Duties
- Conduct daily walk-throughs and report faults or maintenance required.
- Oversee cleanliness and maintenance of all buildings within the Station Quartermaster’s (QM) areas of responsibility.
Administrative & Logistical Support
- Manage all related paperwork, including:
- Station minibus bookings, handover/takeover coordination.
- Issuance of Authority to Use Documents.
- Process waste declarations in line with regulations.
- Organise room cleans for transit accommodation.
- Cover the AO Stores post (over stock control and procurement) when required, including ordering from:
- Management of Joint Deployed Inventory (MJDI)
- Contracting, Purchasing, and Finance platforms
- Attend quartermaster/Station Quartermaster meetings when absent.
- Undertake general administrative tasks, including data entry and reporting.

Remuneration & Pensions
- Base Salary: £27,866
- Civil Service Pension Top-Up: £8,072 (Ministry of Defence contribution).
