Arrears Executive (Mortgage Litigation)

Working Pattern: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Saturday between 8 am to 7 pm (with a 45-minute lunch break). Saturday shifts take place on the last Saturday of each month (9:00 AM to 12:00 PM), worked remotely from home.

Salary: Up to £37,000, with up to 20% bonus and benefits

Location: Fully UK remote or hybrid, with the option to work from any of our vibrant UK offices in London, Cardiff, Durham, or Blackpool.

The Role

Key Responsibilities

As an Arrears & Litigation Executive (Later Arrears), you will:

  • Handle later-stage arrears cases for mortgages and motor finance, focusing on fair customer treatment.
  • Support Operations Leaders in managing customers facing financial difficulty while meeting service level targets.
  • Ensure compliance with FCA rules (MCOB, CONC), Company standards, and regulatory obligations.

Key Duties:

  • Proactively manage inbound/outbound customer interactions (phone, email, portals, third parties).
  • Prepare and issue regulatory documentation (e.g., FCA-compliant arrears letters) accurately.
  • Identify and refer specialist cases (complaints, vulnerability, fraud).
  • Gather and analyse income/expenditure data to determine suitable forbearance options.
  • Conduct arrears negotiations, prioritising repayment plans tailored to individual circumstances.
  • Uphold FCA Complaints Handling and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) principles.
  • Maintain competence under Group Training & Competence Framework.
  • Challenge existing processes and propose improvements within your scope.
  • Stay updated with regulatory/commercial changes to ensure compliance.

What We’re Looking For

Ideal candidates will have:

  • Proven experience in managing later-stage arrears/mortgage litigation (including motor finance repossessions).
  • Financial services expertise with a strong knowledge of FCA (MCOB, CONC), Fair Trading, CCA, and GDPR.
  • Demonstrated customer service & vulnerability awareness in a regulated lending environment.
  • Ability to handle complex cases, draft legal documentation, and set realistic exit strategies.
  • A deep understanding of arrears forbearance and litigation processes.

Preferred:

  • Experience with mortgage arrears & litigation cases.
